Solo Acoustic Guitarist and Vocalist
This site was set up for my solo 'act' . Information on my CD - Around Every Corner - should visit www.randyjacobson.com.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I perform in the Marin County area playing classic rock and originals with a smattering of Motown, standards and traditional songs.

As a soloist I'm interested in originals showcases as well as general entertainment. For the latter I'm more interested in playing on a regular or semi-regular basis. I'd also consider joining a band on bass again for the right situation.

One of my songs - Pathways - has been included on a CD benefitting the Marin Abused Women's Services (MAWS). The CD is titled Harmonies for Peace and can be purchased for $10 at several Marin County businesses.

I live in San Rafael with my family and work 5 days as a computer programmer.

I got into this out of playing open mikes. It worked into a regular thing but these days it's mainly for fun. There is a section below about my history but in short, I played electric bass semi-professionally for many years in Seattle.

Gear

My workhorse is a Legacy AE made by CA Guitars out of Louisiana . This a carbon composite 6 string acoustic with a Fishman Premium Blender pickup system. I play bass on several songs using Roland foot pedals plugged into a rack synthesizer. I use an SWR combo amp (California Blonde) that I run the bass pedals through. When there's no P.A. I can run my vocal mike, guitar and bass through the amp. The Blonde handles it amazingly well.

Other guitars include the Tacoma acoustic bass (pictured), a Carvin 5-string fretless bass, a Guild 12-string, a Fender Strat and a Peavey T-60 electric....plus a few others.

And now...a little history

1990-1991 Played bass (mainly) with Fleeting Moments - a moody, broody slightly progressive rock band based in Seattle.
1984 The Acie Watson Band. A decent, short lived band based in Redding CA.
1980-1993 Scott Lindenmuth Group. Thirteen years with a rock/jazz fusion group in Seattle. Really more of an instrumental rock band - hence my 'rock/jazz' label. 3 CD's released. Played quite a bit of fretless here.
1975-1977 Clear Logic was a six piece touring club band (get Funky). We played the western US and Canada mostly, behaving in ways that come from being with a bunch of guys who've spent ALOT of time together and know each other a little too well. Crazy youthful times.
Plus a few others through the years - mostly various configurations of friends or with my brother Larry Jacobson.

Oh, and I've been reminded to mention the fabulous Duke Picasso. Perhaps you saw the Christopher Guest movie about us - "This is Duke Picasso".

What the heck is Anytime Music.com??

Glad you asked...

Sort of. You see, back when the Internet was a big mystery to most people I had a little bit of a head start on how it worked and what it might portend. I had the idea that sheet music should be available on-line, downloadable with the option to transpose to the key of your choice. Yea, that's it. Get a catchy domain name, put up thousands of titles and become an industry tycoon! Well, it turns out the existing industry tycoons were/are interested in selling paper and had no intentions of letting some guy in California have the licensing rights to all their capital. Actually, there are a couple of sites that have a modest but growing selection on line. The best is Freehand Music.com, another is Sheet Music Direct.
