Welcome. This is my 'personal' site. And while I'm not so centrally obsessed with music (as I was in my youth) that is mostly what I'll attend to here. While I love my family dearly, and occasionally get out fly fishing, cycling, or camping (the sailboard was hung up several years ago), the one hobby that sticks with me is playing bass and guitar. Or writing songs, tinkering on the piano, fussing with MIDI, coveting stringed instruments...and singing. Check out our band Einstein's Relatives. . Jim Bailey on guitar and vocals, Bill Dodge on drums, I'm on bass, some guitar and vocals. Classic and modern rock. Gigging around the Seattle area pretty regularly. Now is when you go 'like' our facebook page!

The list of bands I've been in over the years is long, but not very notable. This is largely due to my being spread out so thin. A jack of many trades. Pretty good at a lot of things - a master of none. That's okay. I was gigging for a living for a few years...on the road. That was enough I think. Now days I program the IBM iSeries (AS/400). Made a career of it.

While living in San Rafael, CA and raising a young family I mostly sang and played my acoustic guitar solo in restaurants and coffee houses for a few years. Classic rock songs with a smattering of Motown and older standards.

And now...a little history

2008-2009 Recorded a CD for the folk duo Wildflower Weed (Sonoma, CA) in my home studio. Lent my bass, guitar, and backing vocals to the project.
2006-2007 Recorded a solo CD - Around Every Corner. 13 songs I'd written over the course of several years. The pace and feel of which range rather widely between finger picked acoustic guitar based through a few rockers. I decided to assemble them from quiet to 'loud'. I've wished CD players had a function to play songs in reverse order - how I'd rather listen to it at times!
2007 Recorded a few bass tracks for a CD titled E-klek-shun (San Rafael, CA). The song Overplay, running at over 9 minutes was a particular challenge. All written by Rick Roth, his Chick Corea influence is apparent. He got me back into fusion.
1990-1991 Played bass with Fleeting Moments - a moody, broody slightly progressive rock band based in Seattle.
1984 The Acie Watson Band. A decent, short lived band based in Redding CA.
1980-1993 Scott Lindenmuth Group. Thirteen years with a rock/jazz fusion group in Seattle. Really more of an instrumental rock band - hence my 'rock/jazz' label. 3 CD's released. Played quite a bit of fretless here.
1975-1977 Clear Logic was a six piece rock and funk touring club band. We played the western US and Canada mostly, behaving in ways that come from being with a bunch of guys who've spent A LOT of time together and know each other a little too well. Crazy youthful times.
Plus others through the years - The Raving Spinnies (ah, the 80s), Splash, Black Point String Band, various configurations of friends or with my brother Larry Jacobson.

What the heck is Anytime Music.com??

Glad you asked...

Sort of. You see, back when the Internet was a big mystery to most people I had a little bit of a head start on how it worked and what it might portend. I had the idea that sheet music should be available on-line, downloadable with the option to transpose to the key of your choice. Yea, that's it. Get a catchy domain name, put up thousands of titles and become an industry tycoon! Well, it turns out the existing industry tycoons were/are interested in selling paper and had no intentions of letting some guy in California have the licensing rights to all their capital. Actually, there are a couple of sites that have a modest but growing selection on line. The best is Freehand Music.com, another is Sheet Music Direct.
